Rapper teams up with R'n'B singer and producer, Akon.
Flo Rida, is set to release his new dance floor smash 'Who Dat Girl' featuring Akon on March 28.
The track sees the genre-busting rapper team up with R'n'B superstar and producer, Akon, creating a perfect blend Flo's signature stop-and-go flow, melodic sensibility and massive hooks. On discussing the influence of 'Who Dat Girl', Flo wanted to showcase the experiences his glittering success has brought him since the release of his first two chart topping albums, Mail On Sunday and R.O.O.T.S.
"Who Dat Girl" is the third single taken from the 8-track mini album, "Only 1 Flo (Pt. 1)", which hosts a stunning collection of tracks packed with an A-list line up of collaborations including the number 1 club smash "Club Can't Handle Me" featuring David Guetta and previous hit single 'Turn Around (5,4,3,2,1)'. The album, executive produced by Elric "E-Class" Prince, Lee "Freezy" Prince and Mike Caren is out now.
Senegalese R&B singer has filed a case against American Talent Agency claiming $750,000 for breach of contract
If rumour mills are churning out yet another Akon concert in Dubai very soon, then read the fine print before forking over that money because things may not be as rosy as they seem.
The popular R&B star, who has already performed four times on our sunny shores, has sued his former booking agent for $750,000 for breach of contract and trademark infringement.
The singer/producer and bosses at his Kon Live Touring, Inc filed a complaint against American Talent Agency last week in New York for booking concerts in Dubai, India, Nigeria and Singapore without Akon's permission or knowledge.
The plaintiffs, Akon and gang, are accusing ATA officials of failing to pay "earned performance fees" and "booking unapproved appearances and performances for Akon".
Apparently, the Senegalese singer's company terminated its relationship with ATA in 2010 and instructed bosses there to immediately stop providing any further booking services on the star's behalf or exploiting Akon's name, picture or likeness for commercial purposes.
However, a spokesman for the star was quoted in the media as saying: "Despite terminating the booking agreement, ATA has secretly booked appearances for Akon in, among other places, Dubai, India, Nigeria and Singapore. ATA has wrongly received substantial deposits from promoters hoping to secure Akon's appearance at events."
He added: "ATA has yet to pay Kon Live Touring at least $750,000 in performance fees for live shows Akon already performed and it continues to falsely advertise itself as Akon's booking agent on the ATA website. Creative Artists Agency is Akon's exclusive booking agent."
In the past, ATA has been associated with 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, Missy Elliot, Fat Joe and Wyclef Jean.
Actor-producer Shah Rukh Khan has promised that his superhero fantasy adventure, Ra.One, will be a 'different' Hindi film. And he is living up to that claim, starting with the music of the film. The film's background score will be recorded in three sessions of two-three weeks each. The first one is currently underway at three different studios. Composers Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, who usually restrict their work to only the film's soundtracks, this time, have insisted on doing the background score too. They are shuttling between the three studios.
Twice a week the duo also visits the VFX facility at the Red Chillies office with their key musicians to ensure that the sound they have created matches the film's look. The second session will take place after a month-and-a-half and the third, a month before the release. The last spell is expected to take place in a studio in London or some part of Europe with live instruments being played.
Apart from the extensive work on the background score, an added attraction to the film's music will be the two songs that Akon has recorded. "He (Akon) flew in with his recordist and music programmer. Then his programmer sat down with Vishal-Shekhar's and there was instant chemistry. The song that was to take two days was wrapped up in one. That's why Akon recorded another song," reminisces the film's upbeat director Anubhav Sinha. "The UK band, The Prodigy, will also be recording for us."
Meanwhile, Sinha refutes rumours that his film's release has been delayed till 2012 as it is being re-shot: "Not a single shot was retaken. And till a month ago, when the VFX team got back to us, we were clueless about the release date. Shah Rukh or Gauri should make an announcement soon. All that you heard about it coming in summer, autumn or winter is just idle gossip."
Recording artist Akon visited Glen Haven Elementary School in Decatur, Georgia today in honor of national Read Across America Day. At his side was his Mother, Kine Gueye Thiam who is also President of the Konfidence Foundation. Akon and his Mother read and distributed books to the students as well as discussed the importance of reading.
The Konfidence Foundation is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to increasing public awareness of the conditions in Africa as well as providing modern learning tools such as technology and educational materials to children in that region. With an interest in education and reading, the Konfidence Foundation's values are right in line with the goals of Read Across America Day; making Akon and his Mother's visit to Glen Haven Elementary School significant in helping raise awareness for the importance of reading as well as making reading materials accessible to children.
Read Across America Day is an annual event which kicked-off at the Library of Congress today. The event occurs every year on Dr. Seuss's birthday; March 2. The goal of Read Across America Day is to bring the excitement of books to children everywhere.
