Baadshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan and singer Akon are said to have become close friends after the crooner sung a track in Khan's upcoming movie 'Ra.One', but SRK has turned out to be an untrue friend.

Well, reports claimed that SRK was organizing a birthday bash for his foreigner friend at his residence Mannat on April 16, but when Akon said that he wanted to spend his birthday with friends and fans, the B-town superstar backtracked.

In a conversation with Mid-day, a source said, "Since the singer wanted fans in attendance as well it was obvious the party wouldn't happen at SRK's residence".

"But it's equally surprising that Shah Rukh chose to go hunting for a venue and for sponsors (albeit unsuccessfully) that would spare him the costs of hosting the bash. How unclassy", added the source.

And, now while Akon's 'Ra.One' friends won't be there on his birthday, other celebrities including Sonakshi Sinha and Priyanka Chopra are expected to be on his new guest-list.

Akon wishes to watch 'Thank You'Akon, who has a concert in Bangalore on Sunday, has disclosed two special desires and hopes that they are fulfilled before he leaves for his home country on Monday.

One is that the singer wants to taste Indian cuisines and secondly, he wants to watch Suniel Shetty's recently released movie 'Thank You'.

"Akon wants to watch at least one film of Suniel. He has heard good things about Suniel in Thank You. Akron's hosts will show him at least portions of the film", revealed a source.

Everything is set for his Gorgon concert, say organizersMeanwhile, organizers for Akon's Indian performances said that his Gurgaon concert would take place as planned, and everything was set.

"It has been a complete pleasure working with the Gurgaon officials. We are looking forward to staging one of the biggest productions that Gurgaon has ever witnessed in recent times", said Sujit Jain, managing director, Netsurf Entertainment.

"Fans can rest assured of a fantastic experience as everything from security to ambience to fare is being well taken care of", he added.

Suniel Shetty's company that's hosting Akon's 3-day trip to India has been thrown into a tizzy. Disregarding the tight minute-by-minute schedule Akon wants to meet his pal Shah Rukh Khan.

Not only that. On the rapper's insistence, the venue for Akon's birthday party on the night of 15th April has been shifted from Mumbai to Pune to avoid a bottleneck of guests from Mumbai and Bollywood who would insist on being at the most happening bash this weekend.

On his first, concert tour in India Akon has made a very special request to his organizers. He wants to taste the special cuisine in every city that he visits, namely Mumbai, Pune and Delhi. The request that has been conveyed belatedly to the organizers has sent them scurrying into every city's menu-card looking for the food that Akon and his entourage can have without getting a spice-attack.

Also, at the last minute, Akon has requested the organizers to give him time to visit Shah Rukh Khan. That one, say Akon's harried hosts, is tougher than arranging the precise city-to-city cuisine, since Akon's schedules from the time he lands at the Mumbai airport on Thursday-Friday 1 am to the time he leaves on Monday, had been worked out into water-tight compartments.

Sujit Jain, MD, Netsurf Entertainment who are hosting Akon, admits Akon has asked for time to meet Shah Rukh Khan. "Of course, Akon will meet Shah Rukh. We've worked the meeting into Akon's schedule after he hands over a cheque on Thursday morning to needy children in Mumbai."

After his meeting with Shah Rukh, Akon will head for Pune for his very private birthday bash and an intimate 45-minute concert attended by no more than 1200 people.

Says Jain, "That again is a massive problem. As soon as it became known in Pune that Akon would be performing we had requests for tickets that ran into unbelievable numbers. But we can only accommodate 1000-1200 people at the Pune concert."

No concert by an international artiste of Akon's stature has ever been held in Pune.

In fact, Akon who has come to India earlier has never done public concerts. At the Gurgaon concert on Saturday, two amateur musicians chosen through a contest on Akon's website Hit Lab will open Akon's concert.

After the small performance in Pune on Friday night followed by his birthday bash which he has asked to be very small and private, Akon goes for the Gurgaon concert where the organizers want to celebrate his birthday on stage during the performance.

There is only one problem. No changes or additions in the Akon's schedule are allowed.

Laughs Jain, "No birthday surprises. Otherwise they'll backfire in our faces. We have planned a birthday celebration on stage in Gurgaon. But we've to run it through his people. Every step in his itinerary is inked and monitored. And the slightest change or addition has to be notified."

On Sunday May 17, Akon performs in Bangalore and then returns to the US on Monday morning. But not before watching his co-host Suniel Shetty's latest release Thank You.

But it's the food that's causing the organizers major heartburn. Since Akon and his wife are major foodies, his request to arrange the special food in each town has Suniel Shetty and his partner Sujit Jain running from pillar to post getting the right items from the menu in place.

'He does a lot of family-friendly stuff and I'm trying to go into that realm,' 'Kon tells MTV News.

Akon's year in music may seem like it's off to a slow start, but expect the Senegalese-American artist's name to be back to music-industry ubiquity shortly.

MTV News recently caught up with the singer/producer/executive on the set of Nick Cannon's video for "Famous," where Akon told us linking up with the actor/rapper (who's expecting twins with wife Mariah Carey) was opportune.

"I listened to ['Famous'] and I actually liked it," Akon said. "He does a lot of family-friendly stuff and I'm trying to go into that realm right now. I want to do a lot more family-friendly stuff, and Nick is the best at that. I feel like this was a collaboration way overdue."

On the set, Akon was friendly as always but didn't divulge any new details about his upcoming album, Stadium, which he hopes to release in September. Last year, the "Sexy Chick" singer revealed to MTV News that producer David Guetta had contributed to the project. For now, Akon plans to go on mini-tours and release new music just to whet the appetites of his fans. But he still isn't sure which song he'll drop first.

"I don't know what to release first," he said. "I'm so excited about the project itself, I'm like, 'OK, which record do I want to put out first?' I haven't quite decided but by the end of April I'll know exactly what I'mma do with the record."

'Kon was more assured in his reverence for Dr. Dre. Last year's "Kush," the official lead single from Dre's long-awaited Detox album, featured a vocal from Akon. "Dre is one of those guys ... he's a perfectionist in his own [right]," Akon said.

"You feel confident working with him because he's not going to let nothing go undone. In a way, that's great. But sometimes you're anxious too, like, 'Man I can't wait to let everybody hear this.' Ultimately, working with Dre was just amazing. Dre is very picky about who he decides to work with too. For him to call me and do [multiple] tracks on the record and be involved in more than one record on that album, it said a lot. It shows how much he really appreciated what I'm doing."

Akon's also plans to collaborate with Sunidhi Chauhan and celebrate his b'day party at SRK's place.

Post his Delhi and Bengalaru performances on the 16th and 17th, singer Akon, along with his wife, will be coming down to 'aamchi' Mumbai and has got all his plans chalked out well in advance. Sources close to the singer say Akon will be considering doing many Bollywood tie-ups this year including celebrating his birthday to be hosted by Bollywood's King Khan Shah Rukh.

"He has been offered to act in a Hindi film after he made headlines with Shah Rukh Khan and 'Ra.One '. We cannot divulge more details at this point," informs the source. Speaking of collaborations, Akon has worked extensively with Aadesh Srivastava and is now considering working with Sunidhi Chauhan who recently met Akon's manager who was in Mumbai few weeks ago to discuss possible collaborations. 'Yes, if everything works out as planned there could be an announcement of them working together soon," says the source.

If the source is to be believed, Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan are planning to host the `Smack that' hitmaker's birthday party at Mannat and invite their B town buddies to the do.
