Akon, Busta Rhymes and the Kid Rock Foundation have contributed and supported raise more than $20,000 for the nonprofit organization by Music industry veteran Shanti Das, "May WE Rest in Peace," to help poverty-stricken families in Detroit, Michigan, who can't afford to bury their loved ones.
"What if it was my mother, father, or loved one lying there in the morgue and I couldn't afford to properly lay them to rest?" Das said. "There were just a lot of things that hit home for me, and I just wanted to immediately take action."
Since the launch in October 2009, the endeavors of "May WE Rest in Peace" have been covered 20 burials in Detroit.
Akon, Big Boi from Outkast and Ludacris were teaming up for Thanksgiving Day feast on November 26. The star were treating people that are in need in the city with 2000 turkeys, greens and sweet potatoes.
